Counselor and Alternate Counselor to ASM: Act as liaison between national and branch Societies.  Attend national council meetings.  Represent Washington branch interests at the national level.


 

Members at Large: No specific duties.  Represents the membership at large at executive meetings of the society.  Volunteer for and take on specific tasks as requested by the president and executive Committee. Organizing and hosting specific scientific meetings, liaison between universities and student chapters, solicitation of funds from industrial sponsors.

 

Other officers and/or committee activities (voluntary) are not elected positions.  These include: archivist, awards, nominating, program, science fair, newsletter editor, webmaster, database manager, industrial affairs coordinator, meeting host and university chapter student coordinator. 

 

3. The society shall elect , upon request, representatives to affiliated societies.  Such representatives shall be elected in accordance with qualifications stated by the respective affiliation.

 

4. There shall be an EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE composed of the officers of the society and representatives to affiliates.  Also included are three members-at-large, no two of whom shall be in the employ of any one government bureau or other institution.

 

ARTICLE VII (NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS)

 

1. Candidates for ACTIVE or ASSOCIATE membership shall become members on registration with the secretary of the society and payment of the annual dues.

 

2. Candidates for election to LIFE membership shall be certified as to qualifications to the executive committee by the secretary and treasurer.  If the executive committee finds the candidate qualified, it shall nominate the person to the society which may elect the candidate by a majority vote.

 

3. The Nominating Committee, led by the president-elect,  shall, at such times as are designated, make one or more nominations for each of the offices of president-elect, secretary, and treasurer, for three members-at-large of the executive committee, and for representatives to affiliated societies. The nominating committee shall consist of two members in addition to the President-elect.
