CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS
OF THE WASHINGTON, DC BRANCH
AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR
MICROBIOLOGY

ARTICLE I
(NAME)
This Society shall be known as THE WASHINGTON, DC BRANCH OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR MICROBIOLOGY.
ARTICLE II
(OBJECT)
The objective of this society shall be to
further the progress of microbiology and related sciences, to bring together those interested in microbiology residing in the greater
Washington, DC metropolitan area to demonstrate and to discuss data dealing with microbiology and related sciences, and to consider subjects
of common interest.
ARTICLE III
(MEETING)
1. This Society shall hold its meeting as
such times and places as are designated by the executive committee the officers.
2. At least two
regular membership meetings shall be held during the society YEAR.
3. Special meetings may be called by the
president, with the approval of at least two officers of the executive committee, when a distinguished scientist who has contributed to the
advancement of microbiology is available or when some matter of special importance may demand the attention of the
Society.
ARTICLE IV
(MEMBERSHIP)
1. There shall be four classes of members,
ACTIVE, ASSOCIATE, LIFE, and STUDENT.
